Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches. Doctors of Chiropractic – often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians – practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling. The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury.
Physical Therapy
Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy are interchangeable words meaning the same thing. We have used Physical Therapy in our clinic to identify senior physiotherapists with the additional education and skill to perform spinal manipulations (like a chiropractor).
Physical Therapy is treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of a patient’s mobility, function, and well-being. Physical Therapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness. Physiotherapists get you involved in your own recovery. Physical Therapy can be defined as a treatment method that focuses on the science of movement and helps people to restore, maintain and maximize their physical strength, function, motion and overall well-being by addressing the underlying physical issues.
Physiotherapists have in-depth knowledge of how the body works and specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat symptoms of illness, injury and disability. Physical Therapy includes rehabilitation, as well as prevention of injury, and promotion of health and fitness. Physiotherapists often work in teams with other health professionals to help meet an individual's health care needs.

Athletic Therapy
Athletic therapists adhere to the Sports Medicine Model of care. They treat a wide range of patients, from kids with concussions to seniors recovering from hip replacement surgery, using various manual therapies, modalities, exercise prescription and even bracing and taping. The treatment varies but the objective doesn’t: an Athletic Therapist's goal is to help clients return to their usual activities, whether that means playing competitive sports or walking to the mailbox and back.
Kinesiology
Our Kinesiologists work in association with our other practitioners to ensure a collaborative and effective treatment plan and active approach to wellness. Active Rehab may be part of your already existing treatment plan or may be utilized privately and independently as well. Please contact our office if you have any questions about how active rehab may benefit you.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing developed as part of the traditional medicine of China, Japan and other Eastern countries. It involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the skin to stimulate specific parts of the body and its neural network. The goal of acupuncture is to relieve a health condition or symptom, such as pain. Studies show that acupuncture can help manage chronic pain, injuries, headaches, and migraines.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is thousands of years old and has changed little over the centuries. Its basic concept is that a vital force of life, called Qi, surges through the body. Any imbalance to Qi can cause disease and illness. This imbalance is most commonly thought to be caused by an alteration in the opposite and complementary forces that make up the Qi. These are called yin and yang.
Ancient Chinese believed that humans are microcosms of the larger surrounding universe, and are interconnected with nature and subject to its forces. Balance between health and disease is a key concept. TCM treatment seeks to restore this balance through treatment specific to the individual.
It is believed that to regain balance, you must achieve the balance between the internal body organs and the external elements of earth, fire, water, wood, and metal.
TCM should not be used as a replacement for conventional or allopathic treatment, especially for serious conditions, but it may be beneficial when used as complementary therapy. **Since some TCM herbal medicines can interfere or be toxic when combined with Western medicines, you should inform your doctor if you are using TCM**.
Naturopathic Medicine
An integrated approach that incorporates research and clinical based treatments combining acupuncture, nutrition, naturopathy, testing and functional medicine. Rather than taking a traditional disease-centered focus, naturopathic medicine addresses the underlying root causes of disease using a patient-centered approach that treats the whole person, not just isolated symptoms.

Osteopathy is a type of alternative medicine that emphasizes manual readjustments, myofascial release and other physical manipulation of muscle, tissue and bones.

Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a type of talk therapy that involves entering an alpha/theta brain wave state, which occurs naturally during sleep. Its purpose is to facilitate lasting positive changes in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. By combining talk therapy with therapeutic hypnosis, hypnotherapy creates a safe and supportive environment to bridge the gap between conscious intentions and subconscious motivations. You can envision aligning your thoughts and actions with your desired outcome. Typically, each hypnotherapy session lasts around an hour, and patients often see noticeable improvements within two to ten sessions. However, the required sessions can vary depending on individual needs and goals.
Reiki Coach
Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It is based on the idea that we all have an unseen "life force energy" that flows through our bodies. A Reiki practitioner gently moves her hands just above or on the client's clothed body with the intention of reducing stress and promoting healing by encouraging a healthy flow of energy.

Archetypal Consulting
Do you often struggle to control your emotions or feel trapped by behavioural patterns hindering your progress? Are you longing to unlock the key to your personal growth and discover the depths of your psyche? Look no further than archetypal consulting. Understanding the concept of archetypes and how they shape our lives may hold the answers you seek.
Archetypal consulting is a psychotherapy approach that draws heavily on the work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. According to Jung, our psyche is richly endowed with various archetypes symbolically representing human experiences. Integrating and comprehending these archetypes is crucial for achieving wholeness and self-realization.
Archetypes are universal patterns of energy that reside within our collective unconscious, influencing how we perceive reality and interact with the world.
In archetypal consulting, therapists work closely with clients to identify and explore the archetypal forces at play within their psyche. This involves delving into dreams, myths, and symbols, and interpreting them in the context of the client’s personal history and experiences. Through this process, clients gain a profound understanding of their unconscious motivations and desires and insights into their relationship with themselves and the world.
Psychotherapy
A psychotherapist is a mental health professional who uses talk therapy to treat emotional problems and mental illnesses. They can have different degrees and specialties, such as psychiatry, psychology, social work, or counseling. They can work with individuals, couples, groups, or families. They use psychological methods, instead of medication, to help patients deal with their problematic beliefs, thoughts, behaviors, or compulsions.
Psychotherapy can treat most mental health issues, such as, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, addictions, eating disorders, personality disorders and schizophrenia.
Psychotherapy may help to resolve conflicts with your partner or someone else in your life, relieve anxiety or stress, cope with major life changes, learn to manage unhealthy reactions, come to terms with an ongoing or serious health issue, recover from physical or sexual abuse, cope with sexual problems, and to sleep better.
There are cases where psychotherapy can be as effective as medicines, depending on your situation.
